# Sites

Sites are a core component of the Finance Computer API, underpinning both payment processing and payment method activation.

As a merchant, you'll typically create at least one site profile under your Finance Computer account during onboarding.  You might create multiple profiles if your organization operates several online stores or requires separate configurations for different parts of your business.
